Electricity and Gas

Posted on August 22, 2023

Italy operates an open market when it comes to Electricity and Gas, because of this, there are many suppliers about, some Italian and some from other countries. Who do you choose is often a daunting task.

The big well known companies Eon, ENEL, Eni all operate in Italy, but there are lots of smaller, often cheaper ones, that are owned by other big energy companies.

Prices vary depending on your region, so don’t expect what is cheaper for some will be cheaper for you, if you are in a different region.

In general the bigger well known Italian companies are more expensive. So your best bet is a smaller market share company with an overall better price.

Some examples of well known smaller brands are, octopus, engie, Edison, iren.

You can use a comparison site, but they are limited in their results, you are better just spending that hour, searching yourself.

From personal experience, octopus is good, it’s cheaper than many, and simple to understand. They are a well known UK brand, that recently opened in Italy and actually offer decent service.
