There are many mobile companies in Italy, some are much easier to use and cheaper. ho mobile is reasonable and can all be opened online or using the app, no need for any interaction or visits to shops, you can go to a phone shop if you want though. Prices start at €5.99 a month if you transfer a number or €7.99 a month if you get a new number.
It uses the Vodafone network so covers the whole of Italy.
