Health Care in Italy

Healthcare is something many people ask about in Italy. Over the next few weeks we will be updating this section with all the information you will need with specific information from each region.

Italy unlike over countries has a very regional based health care system, this means that in the South its substantially different to in the North or the country, for example it’s rare you can book into a doctors or hospital or they keep to appointments in the South you have to take a ticket in places and wait, sometimes for hours. In the North its a bit more modern and you can often make appointments.

Italy also has a combined national health / private type health system, its quite possible you will be referred to a private clinic or hospital for tests. Each region is different and how you register in each region is different.
