ENEL is one of the big energy providers in Italy, they was previously state owned and still partly owned by the Italian government, they lay most of the electrical infrastructure in Italy.
They use often dodgy means to get new customers from their competitors.
One of their favourite tools is asking to see your electricity bill and pointing out you already pay ENEL. This is strictly true, you pay ENEL as the main stream provider, they will then go on to tell you, if you change to ENEL you won’t pay that fee, which again is true. However your bill will most likely go up, they are often more expensive than other providers, and if you are looking to save money ENEL should never be your choice.
What they always fail to tell you is, you still pay for the infrastructure when you move to ENEL but it no longer shows on your bill as it’s all inclusive.
There has been reports that some people have had contracts in the post, just by speaking to an ENEL cold caller, when they haven’t even agreed to change.
Basically the moral of the story is, if you want to safe money then ENEL isn’t an option you should consider, no matter what they try and imply.
